Pen & Ink Drawing Class Thursdays 10 am -12 pm 4/25/24 - 6/13/24 8 weeks Course Description: This class explores the use of lines to create drawings in pen and ink. We will explore the various mark-making techniques of drawing parallel line, crosshatching, stippling, scumbling, crisscross lines, and wavy lines. We will then learn how to employ them to create shapes, form, value, contrast, and the development of texture, putting all these techniques together to create one drawing from a reference photo of your choosing. (During the first class, we will discuss the use of watercolor pencils for those who would want to introduce some color into your completed pen drawing.) Course Materials: · Set (5-6) "waterproof" Micron pens or comparable pens with various nib sizes. · 2H and HB pencil for preliminary drawing. · Eraser · Bristol board (if you are just using the pens) · Mixed media paper or watercolor paper (if you plan on adding watercolor pencil) We will go over the technique of adding watercolor pencils in the first class. · A reference photo that inspires you Not Necessary for First Class! · Watercolor pencil set 12-24, Derwent is an inexpensive quality set if you are planning on adding a bit of color after the drawing is done.
