GENTLE SUPPORTED YOGA
Hatha yoga includes physical postures, breathing exercises, and deep physical and mental relaxation (meditation). Everyone can benefit from this wonderful practice.
All of the stretches and poses can be done while seated in a chair and/or standing using the wall or chair as a support if needed. Yoga works the joints and muscles to improve strength, balance, circulation, and flexibility. It also goes beyond this into proper breathing, body alignment, and, finally, into quiet reflection.
Each class begins with about five minutes of breathing followed by a series of yoga movements (postures) which are specifically modified to meet your needs. The class concludes with some additional breathing and finally with a deep physical and mental relaxation.
Classes are each Wednesday and Friday from 9-10 am. There is very small fee charged and the first class is always free. Contact the Calendar House at 860-621-3014 for more information or to sign up.
