The courses described below include both current and recently taught classes.

Computer Basics for Beginners.

This free four-week course provides those with little or no experience in using a computer the opportunity to explore whether or not they might wish to learn more about computers beginning with our introductory course. This preview in computer basics will acquaint you with main parts of the computer, screen, mouse and keyboard while explaining the advantages of using a computer.
This class, or equivalent experience, is a pre-requisite for all other Computer Learning Center courses.

Introduction to Computers.

An 8-week course for students who have had Computer Basics for Beginners and are comfortable with the mouse and keyboard and are ready to move to the next level. This course builds a foundation for more advanced courses by providing instruction in the elements of computers such as: (1) how to create and manage files and folders; (2) create, edit, cut, copy, paste and save word processing documents; (3) a tour of the Internet; and (4) and a solid introduction to e-mail including compose, send, reply, forward, attachments and email etiquette.

Exploring the Internet.

Become familiar with a browser, the software used to venture out on the World Wide Web. Learn the various ways to navigate to various web sites by entering new web site addresses and using links. Do a search for any information you desire. You will learn how to meet and communicate with others on the Internet and how to save and organize your favorite web sites. Learn to download information, new software and updates for your computer. Learn about Internet Security and Personal Privacy.

Practical Web Uses.

This 6-week course will help you use the web in a practical way in your daily life. Save time and money by searching the web before you make travel plans, purchase a major item, plan your entertainment, buy books or newspapers, make medical & retirement decisions, etc. Expand your knowledge of the web by visiting new web sites, and locating the info you need to make more informed decisions in your everyday life.

Using e-mail Effectively.

Learn to use the efficient Gmail system, discovering its many unique features. Create your own account (FREE); access it from any internet- connected computer anywhere. Learn to read, compose, send, receive, reply & forward email; open, save and forward attachments; set up and manage your email address book; block (SPAM); file and search for email quickly and easily and learn smart email habits, etiquette and more.

Word Processing.

A four week program that covers all of the basics of word processing including; document formatting, cut and paste, spell check, emailing documents, editing, inserting pictures, and other basic word processing skills. Included with the course is a full word processing software suite that is absolutely FREE as part of this program while having comparable features to Microsoft's very expensive Office Suite.

Managing Files & Folders.

A 4-week course that will help you organize the files, photos, and folders on your computer. You will learn how to create new files and folders, as well as find, move, copy, rename and delete them, in order to stay organized. You will be able to place related files and folders into new folders, as well as type new documents, find info on line, and save this info on your hard drive and flash drives.

How to set up and use a printer.

Know which printer to buy, solve printer problems, use efficient and cost saving printing techniques, preview your print job, save paper using Page Setup, print just what you want from a webpage, and more in this 3 week course.

The Many Faces Of Google.

Google is widely recognized as the most popular search engine for finding information on the Web. But, most users do not know about the many hidden tricks and tools that are buried in Google. This course will show you where to look and how to use the many hidden features of Google and discover the powerhouse that it really is.

Digital Photography Basics and Picasa.

An eight week course that will cover how a camera works, selection of a digital camera, photo composition, and photo processing using Google’s photo editing tool, Picasa, which is FREE. Course will include one field trip. Pre-requisite: Students must be familiar with and comfortable using the computer and internet.

eBay/Craigslist.

In four sessions you will become familiar with the eBay website. Register and search for items that interest you. Learn how to bid and pay for a purchase using PayPal. Find out what you need to be a successful seller -- and the current fees that eBay charges. There will be a brief introduction to Craigslist which will compare the advantages of eBay and Craigslist. Pre-requisite: An active Email address is required.

Computer Tune Up.

Over time, any computer will appear to run more slowly and needs a bit of routine TLC to restore its youthful vitality. The two-week Computer Tune- Up Workshop will show you how to revitalize your computer by removing superfluous files, updating the system security and putting things in the most efficient order.
